Abstract
The Aircar is a roadable airplane that utilizes a low aspect ratio wing so that it is narrow enough for road driving in the flight configuration. Technology for the Aircar has evolved over a long period of years and is now ready for a flight and road demonstration program with a civil design that is representative of a marketable product. Model flight and wind tunnel tests, full scale designs, and a full-scale working mock-up of the demonstrator are described and discussed. The Aircar offers true convenience and short trip times and has the potential for becoming the personal auto of the future.
