Abstract
This paper outlines a process for a vehicle manufacturer to identify and prioritize requirements for headliners which provide CUSTOMER VALUE. The process includes those requirements placed on headliners to satisfy the vehicle purchasing customer, as well as the in-process customers involved in the design, development and manufacturing of the vehicle and the headlining assembly.
Means of quantifying performance for each requirement are proposed.
CUSTOMER VALUE can be compared for various headliner alternatives using the definition;
A VALUE SELECTION WORKSHEET is presented as the framework for a vehicle manufacturer to select the highest value headliner design and materials for a specific vehicle application.
