Actual Fuel Injection Direction was measured and its effects on exhaust emissions in D.I. diesel engine were investigated. The results revealed that the nozzle sac dimensions played important roles on determining actual fuel injection direction, and that reducing machining errors of the dimensions improved exhaust emissions, particularly particulate emission.
