A Study of Cooling Loss in Direct Injection Spark Ignition Hydrogen Fueled Engine

In order to analyze cooling loss and thermal load on the wall of combustion chamber in direct injection spark ignition hydrogen fueled engine, cooling loss at each part of the engine and instantaneous temperature on the wall of combustion chamber were measured. As a result, distribution of cooling loss of hydrogen fueled engine was similar to that of gasoline engine. Cooling loss, maximum instantaneous temperature of the wall of combustion chamber, temperature swing and maximum heat flux of hydrogen fueled engine were far greater than those of gasoline engine.
