Abstract
In order to determine the reliability of subjectively judging
vehicle behavior against vehicle movement and steering angle, a
group of selected drivers were subjected to a double lane-change
maneuver on a test track, and in a driving simulator. The required
differences in vehicle behavior were achieved by using a degree of
rear wheel steering. Each test was recorded by multi-channel
recorder, and individual questionnaires.
The paper describes a set of connecting rules for quantifying
the objective and subjective data. With this method, the disturbing
motion which influences the driver's opinion, and the needed
corrections to these disturbances which bring a change in the
driver's rating, are readily identified
