Abstract
After commissioning, Royal Air Force Engineer Officers start the first phase of their management and technical training. This prepares the young officers for their first appointment by teaching them how to achieve management targets by coordinating their future resources of equipment and often older and more experienced manpower. The first phase is followed by an 18 month practical training appointment directly supporting aircraft or equipment operations on a Station. Afterwards, the officers start the second phase of their training which prepares them for more demanding appointments with greater responsibility. Successful completion of both training phases and the first practical appointment qualifies officers for Stage 2 Registration with the Engineering Council for either Chartered or Incorporated status as appropriate to their background.
