Abstract
A new spring apply hydraulic release failsafe liquid cooled wheel brake has been developed for off road applications such as loaders, trucks, and underground mining equipment. This design eliminates the need for secondary braking systems as it serves the function of the service, emergency, and parking brake.
Design emphasis has been placed on bng service life with high reliability for safe, maintenance free operation. Special design techniques affecting brake component performance and life are discussed.
