Simulation and Experimental Study on Combustion Phenomena in a Di Diesel Engine

For understanding the combustion phenomena in a DI diesel engine, a simulation analysis was performed by using the KIVA program modified for a diesel engine. The calculation results were then compared to experimental results. The effect of the injection nozzle specification, configuration of the combustion chamber and the air motion within the cylinder on the engine performance were investigated.
