Simultaneous Reduction of NoDx and Particulate Emissions From Diesel Engine Exhaust

The characteristics of simultaneous reduction of NOx and diesel particulate from diesel engine are evaluated using the base metal catalyzed trap. The traps have been able to both reduce NOx and lower the regeneration temperature. The catalyzed system maintains a 400°C over 150 regeneration. In order to achieve the higher NOx reduction, the use of hydrocarbon and diesel fuel was investigated and the catalytic activity for NOx reduction by them was evaluated on the base metal catalyst system. In addition, a total system "Riken- System" for simultaneous reduction was proposed on the basis of engine condition.
