Power Plant and Systems-An Incremental Approach to a Final-Year Course
Published January 01, 1991 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
An optional course has been developed that makes the transition from thermodynamics, as a core engineering science subject, to broader considerations of the supply, conversion and end use of energy. The course is treated as several simultaneous progressions, from components to systems and from detailed analysis to discussion based on case studies and source materials, gradually embracing environmental, social and political as well as technical issues. The motivation for this type of course is described, its objectives, content and organization are outlined, its strengths and shortcomings are assessed and possible future developments are suggested.
