Saturn Transmission Family; Product and Process Flexibility by Design

Abstract
The Saturn vehicle concept evolved from efforts to derive a domestically produced “small car” that would make use of innovative design and manufacturing techniques (1). Within this framework a new transmission family was developed based on a reassessment of the fundamentals involving design and manufacturing.
