Authors Abstract
Content
The technology applicable to the measurements of exhaust gas emissions and fuel economy of motor vehicles still becomes more and more complex and complicated. Accordingly, the accuracy of the respective test results becomes more decisive.
Therefore, it is necessary to minimize or even to eliminate possible measurement errors.
The driver of a motor vehicle is known as one source of statistical and systematic errors.
However, these errors can be reduced by replacing the human driver by a mechanized driver, a “robot driver”.
This report summarizes the results of the optimization work on such a robot driver, and it delineates the experiences collected on the systems now in use for about three years. Very sufficient performance and good durability have been observed.
