High Speed Control of Damping Force Using Piezoelectric Elements

Abstract
Controlling a damping force is very effective to improve the stability and controllability and the ride comfort. Authors propose the new type shock absorber equipped with a piezoelectric sensor and a piezoelectric actuator which have a quick response. This absorber can change a damping force from firm to soft very quickly when the shock from road surface have to be absorbed and it can get better compatibility for the stability and controllability and the ride comfort. In this paper, the valve-mechanism of the absorber is discussed.
