Abstract
The introduction of communications through mobile cellular provided considerable productivity increases to the vehicle operator. Primitive forms of service have already been introduced and technology exists to implement a full range of office features. An intelligent vehicle/highway program is also dependent on mobile communications. Degrading traffic conditions has fueled public interest. Progress in both of these areas is dependent on cultural change, correct implementation, rate structures and infrastructure development. Many business opportunities in the communication, data base and travel service industries are being created by these developments.
