Ceramic Bearings - Applications and Performance Advantages in Industrial Applications

This paper describes the properties and benefits of silicon nitride ceramic material as applied to rolling element bearings. Industrial applications that would benefit from this technology are discussed with an emphasis placed on machine tool spindles. The relevance of ceramic bearing technology and projected price reductions are presented.
