The directional dynamics of the articulated pusher bus KAROSA C 744 was investigated by way of computer simulation. Appropriate calculations allowad the handling behaviour after an impulse steer input to be studied both under conditions of straight run (lateral oscillations, snaking) and during turns (jackknifing or trailing swing). At the same time the effects of damping and blocking upon the relative yaw motion between the front and rear sections of the articulated bus were subjected to assessments* The computation results have shown that the anti-jackknife device used for the C 744 bus can ensure its dynamic stability even under marginal handling conditions. This has been verified in practice by road performance tests.
