BECAUSE OF THE SINGULAR IMPORTANCE of weight and efficiency of systems onboard aircraft, generators used to supply electric power to aircraft loads are sized with little extra capacity. Consequently, and unlike land-based, utility-type generating networks, unbalanced and nonlinear loads usually make up a substantial portion of the rated output, and their effects on the behavior of the system are pronounced. This paper discusses these effects and suggests methods of minimizing them.
