Authors Abstract
Content
With competition becoming more intense and outsourcing a threat to all automotive component plants, there is not only a need to acquire new technology, but also to improve existing stamping lines.
This report details, by real life example, the improvements that can be realized by reducing the effect of process variables and material inconsistencies through the use of common sense practices. Included are some of the improvements that were made on a thirty year old press stamping line, and how this type of continuous improvement process can be applied to any sheet metal stamping line.
