Abstract
A summary of the contents of the design section of the Automotive Steel Design Manual is presented. This section features strength and stiffness design considerations for sheet steel components used in automotive assemblies. The summary reflects that the most current design procedures and design information are included. Topics addressed include dent resistance, connection of components, fatigue and corrosion considerations as well as crash energy management. Several examples are presented to illustrate the content and usefulness of the design section.
