Authors Abstract
Content
The Space Shuttle Orbiter, with subsystems unique to its operation in space and re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, is more than a high performance aircraft. These unique subsystems present health hazards that are not ordinarily experienced in the maintenance and servicing of aircraft. This paper relates the health hazards associated with processing the orbiter with the unique adaptations for space flight and atmospheric re-entry.
