Abstract
This paper describes the design and development of a new family of industrial quality hydraulic cylinders. The family is designed to take advantage of new and conventional manufacturing technologies while meeting a broad range of product requirements, with maximum parts commonality. This was accomplished by use of Value Engineering techniques, finite element modeling, and engineering analysis. Design capability was demonstrated with laboratory and field testing.
