The Pragmatics and Development of a Diagnostsc Aid for Automotive Electronic Systems

This paper discusses the pragmatics of diagnostic testing as it applies to automotive electronic systems and outlines the history of Ford electronic engine control testing aids from the beginning to the current on-board EEC IV self test system. It is intended to provide a basic understanding of the diagnostic choices available and to illustrate some of these with historical examples.
