Abstract
Content
Vapor Permeation Cure (VPC) and Vapor Injection Cure (VIC)are foundary resin systems which are built upon polyurethane components which cure almost instantly in the presence of a gaseous tertiary amine catalyst. These processes reduce the amount of time and energy needed to cure foundary cores and molds.
This paper reviews the development of VPC/VIC systems, and examines the chemistry, the processes, and the properties involved. Advantages of VPC/VIC coatings are also reviewed, including those in the areas of heat-sensitive plastic substrates and increased productivity.
