Abstract

As environmental damage has been noticed in European countries, the commission of the European Communities has been charged by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany with researching this damage in relation to automotive emissions, as there are currently no emission standards in these countries. Under consideration is the adoption of the current U. S. emission standards and test procedures. Although environmental observations triggered the examination of exhaust standards, it is primarily a concern for health and the effect that unregulated emissions have on personal health that has prompted the current European interest in emissions.
