Earthmoving machinery dealers provide mechanical repair service for machines operating in the field. From this vantage point, they are familiar with the practical aspects of dealer and customer maintenance as well as diagnostic and repair practices. Dealer and customer repair philosophies and difficulties created by proliferation of tooling and service equipment requirements will be discussed. Examples of items that could have reduced repair and maintenance costs on existing machines plus suggestions for future machines are provided.
