Status and Development of Audio Cassette Tapes for the Automotive Environment

This paper reviews the consumer practice of utilizing “home-based.” audio cassette cartridges in vehicular applications. Included is an overview of automotive cassette transport design and available features, with a discussion of cassette cartridge quality and its impact on cassette system warranty. Finally, design considerations for an automotive cassette cartridge are outlined.
