Authors Abstract
Content
Composite Reinforced Aluminum CNG vehicle fuel cylinders, fabricated from precision extruded aluminum tube, with hemispherical heads formed on each end and the sidewall reinforced with high-strength composite, offers a weight reduction of up to 50% in containment vessels for storage of CNG as a vehicle fuel. In addition to weight reduction, the basic nature of the aluminum alloy used in CNG cylinders offers a container with high resistance to external corrosion and internal corrosion caused by contaminants in natural gas. The cylinders are manufactured in 10″ and 13″ diameters and up to lengths of 72″, allowing the efficient conversion of small, medium and heavy duty vehicles to CNG.
