Using the word “prime,” which in this paper indicates first in quality, to describe a mental state takes on a special meaning. This paper discusses many of the factors, such as memory, judgement, feelings, movement, body chemistry, and variations in consciousness, which affect the achievement of the prime mental state in flight operations.
