Abstract
A number of modern manufacturing concepts have recently been introduced to industry; among them are: the laser beam, the electron beam, electric discharge machining (EDM) and electro-chemical machining (ECM). Each has its distinctive characteristics and advantages. The laser beam has very high productive capability and has great versatility with regard to the manufacturing operations it can perform and the materials which it can process.
