Importance of Engineering Plastics in Modern Vehicle Construction

On the basis of the criteria presently applying to the choice of plastics materials for automotive components, the paper describes the most important determining factors for the future. The primary problems which now have to be solved are outlined in their technical context. Two practical examples are given for well-directed cooperation between the automotive industry and manufacturers of raw materials and machine tooling.
