On the Effect to the Use of Manual Choke in the Ece R15-Test
Published January 01, 1980 by Verlag Des Verein Deutscher Ingenieure GmbH in Germany
The accuracy of the results of the ECE R15-tests on gasoline engined car exhaust emissions has been criticized especially by the VW-laboratories. In addition to this criticism on the method as a whole it seems to be necessary to criticize, in particular, the rules given in the test code for the use of the manual choke.
The initial tests at the Automobile Laboratory of the Helsinki University of Technology gave an indication that the majority of eg. CO-emissions come during the first cycle of the test. This report is made in order to provide proof for the fact that more stringent rules are needed in the ECE-test code for the use of the manual choke.
