The extent of automatic transmission fluid oxidation is compared for short term bench transmission tests with long term vehicle tests. The technique of Blotter Spot Analysis is emphasized for the comparison. Blotter Spot Analyses can help decide when an automatic transmission fluid should be changed in severe service.
