- A research vehicle was designed and constructed at Western Washington State College. This car was designed to achieve excellent economy and performance with rotary engines. Extensive use of aluminum in a monocoque chassis and non-stressed body allows low weight. Five miles per hour bumpers of elastomeric urethane are fitted and aluminum honeycomb is used as impact absorbing deformable structures. Aerodynamic features utilized in the Viking 2 experimental vehicle were further refined and incorporated in this vehicle.
