Spin Welding Component Design for Cost and Weight Savings

This paper is an attempt to illustrate examples to generate creative thinking for parts designers in planning future designs to result in cost and weight savings by use of spin welding. It also covers representative examples of designs, which include the forces exerted on the part as it is being welded, both in torsional force and column strength.
