Abstract
In 1957 the Los Angeles Police Department recognized the need for improvement in braking systems on police emergency vehicles. From that date to the present time, there has been an ongoing program of testing and evaluating brake linings and braking systems to provide fade-free balanced braking. As a result of this program, substantial improvements have been made in developing brake characteristics which point the way for police vehicle braking standards.
