Authors Abstract
Content
Construction of a mass transit system is usually among the largest of civil projects, running into billions of dollars. The disruptive act of building exclusive mass transit rights-of-way through densely populated areas will further aggravate existing modes of transportation.
The general case of a metropolitan area whose population is in excess of a million people is examined with regard to selection and design of a mass transportation system.
Systems that can handle 100,000-200,000 passengers during morning and evening rash hours are discussed.
