Abstract
A brief overview of the effect of the state weight laws (Wisconsin, Indiana, Louisiana, Illinois, California) on the mixer truck axle configuration; a review of design changes necessitated by the federal brake law (FMVSS 121), including the dynamic weight transfer problem; and a look at the expected design changes to attenuate the noise emission of the mixer truck; call for an SAE activity in examining and coordinating the new regulations.
