State-of-the-Art-Vehicle Control and Road Holding

The purpose of this paper is to define the state-of-the-art of vehicle control and road holding of automotive vehicles and to indicate, briefly, pertinent historical background. It is not intended to be a comprehensive bibliography and chronology of all developments leading to our present state of knowledge, but, rather, to indicate where we are and possible future activity. The paper is limited to those aspects of vehicle control which are generally considered to be related to vehicle safety.
