The TF41 turbofan is a joint development of the Allison Division of General Motors Corp. and Rolls-Royce Ltd. It is in use in the United States Air Force Ling-Temco-Vought A-7D tactical fighter aircraft. This paper deals with a general discussion of the engine cycle and the LP/IP compressor aerodynamic design. It also covers design, manufacturing, and development problems related to the front bearing support, and the design and manufacturing techniques for the bypass ducts and the annular bypass mixer.
