Authors Abstract
Content
Design considerations are discussed for Caution and Warning Systems for complicated space stations, with emphasis on practical reliability aspects and special consideration for on-orbit test and checkout requirements. Specific guidelines are given for design of the system, with discussion of each major facet to guide the design in early phases. An on-board checkout concept is introduced to keep the “System Has Failed” risk below a defined requirement. A simplified block diagram is shown to demonstrate interface isolation.
