Abstract
The airlines no longer look at air freight with apathy, although the competition might not be called fierce. There is a concerted effort to solve shipper's needs for repetitive mass movements as well as emergency requirements. International air carriers have experienced recent growth, but require blocked space agreements. selective reduced commodity rates and automated ground handling. Consignor-to-consignee rates and service will be the controlling features of the growth of air cargo; the terminal-to-terminal service is basic. The growth potential for air cargo is ultimately a challenge to the carriers.
