A Review of Self-Aligning Bearings

This paper is a general review of various spherical devices, both friction and antifriction, which may be considered by the designer in the solution of a particular set of design parameters. It is not meant as a precise treatment of application and design for any particular industry. Rather it suggests various ideas which may be helpful to the designer. Included in the discussion are steel-on-steel bearings, coatings, capacity ratings, sealing, and lubrication.
