Authors Abstract
Content
Under the condition of adiabatic compression the ignition of different fuel-air mixtures has been investigated for a large range of initial conditions. The ignition behavior of these mixtures could be characterized by delay times and reaction rates as functions of temperature, pressure, and composition. A better understanding of the whole ignition process, for one stage as well as for two stage ignition, could be obtained by measuring the concentration of reactants, intermediates, and products during the course of the preignition reactions (delay times of milliseconds).
