Conversion of High-Speed, Air-Cooled Diesel Engines from Pre-combustion Chamber Process to Direct Injection

This article discusses the direct injection combustion system as applied to diesel engines. A short review is given of the development background and associated problems arising during application of direct injection with intense rotation of the cylinder charge. Test results are reported and these validate the merits of the system for air-cooled diesels.
