- Two important sources of random aeroacoustic excitation of aerospace structures are the jets of both gas turbines and rockets, and turbulent boundary layers. Their dominant characteristics relevant to their loading of structures, such as the cross-correlation in narrow frequency bands of the pressure field, are outlined together with those principal theoretical approaches to the estimation of the resultant response which are available to aid the designer.
