Authors Abstract
Content
The successful application of adaptive control techniques to the drilling process will result in a reduction in drilling costs, and produce extra dividends in the appearance and accuracy of the holes drilled. The maintaining of closer tolerances, better finish, and improved entrance and exit condition are advance indications that production drilling, particularly as applied to the tougher alloys, deep-hole drilling, and the drilling of small holes should be revolutionized by these techniques within the next few years.
