Abstract
A squirrel cage induction motor has been designed for use while filled with sea water. Units of this design have demonstrated their reliability, with excellent performance in providing a secondary propulsive means for nuclear submarines. This paper outlines the general features of the design and describes a similar application involving a sea water filled motor with water filled antifriction bearings.
