Modern Multipurpose Gear Oils

This paper is a review of certain basic facts concerning gear lubricant additives, their character, and function and why they are necessary in lubricants for heavy-duty equipment. The performance of modem multipurpose gear oils in a variety of applications as determined by a field survey and field service testing is included.
