How to Summarize Data

This paper is intended as an introduction to statistics for the engineer who has had little or no background in that subject. It covers some useful methods of describing a set of data statistically. Based on these descriptive techniques, a few of the basic concepts of probability and statistical inference are then presented in a nonrigorous manner.
