Authors Abstract
Content
Results of an investigation of the influence of intercooling on six engine variables of two diesel engines are presented. The effects of various degrees of intercooling on each operating condition in each engine are given, and a summary is made of the benefits of intercooling. A comparison of intercooler effectiveness using temperatures measured during the test is also discussed.
A simple piston temperature apparatus which requires only standard laboratory instrumentation, and which can be adapted to different engines, is described in the paper.
